The One and Only!

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

How did the Duke of Windsor come into our world? Completely by chance actually. In October of 2020, we took an anniversary trip to Cape May and stayed at lovely Elaine’s on Lafayette Street. We were so happy to see outdoor dining with heat lamps and live music was still a thing in Cape May. We sat and enjoyed the company all around us six feet away and felt pretty normal as we were heading into the winter of a pandemic year. We walked around the adorable town we came to love, vacationing each summer at the Congress Hall with our little ones. The next day while driving through town we spotted a listing we were curious about. Although the particular home did not turn into anything, a relationship of sorts was formed with a kind and pleasant Realtor. We were unsure where we would venture to purchase a home but knew we had always loved Cape May. Months passed and the opportunity to make an investment presented itself. We looked in several states and thought we would set up some property visits. The Cape May agent who had never forgotten to send us the latest listings over those months set up some visits in the short time frame we had to work with. Of the six unique properties, the Duke was our first visit and we were smitten. The history of the home captured us. We were so drawn to it’s magnificent structure and stately presence; in love with the grand staircase that told a story of a time gone and forgotten. And impressed with the modern upgrades that would make the home a perfect retreat for guests to vacation. We knew it was the one.
